A6061-T6 is a precipitation-hardened aluminum alloy, part of the 6xxx series, which primarily contains magnesium and silicon as its major alloying elements. The 'T6' temper indicates that the alloy has been solution heat-treated and artificially aged, resulting in significantly increased strength and hardness. It is renowned for its excellent combination of high strength-to-weight ratio, good weldability, and superior general corrosion resistance, particularly in atmospheric and marine environments. It also exhibits good machinability and moderate formability. This alloy is non-magnetic and has good thermal and electrical conductivity.
